Communication (Business/Personal Writing)

The ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing is one of the most critical competencies in business (and life). PBI offers a suite of applied POWER Writing workshops (which can be tailored to fit your needs and combined with follow-on consulting and/or coaching) that help business professionals to better plan, organize, write, evaluate, and revise their writing to create documents that get read and have a real impact.

Basic instruction goes "beyond the fundamentals" and includes work in the areas of grammar, structure, mechanics (spelling, punctuation, capitalization, contractions, plurals, abbreviations, italics, etc.), and style. More advanced work covers the POWER Writing process for individuals with methods for breaking through "writer’s block," becoming "reader-focused," organizing information, streamlining the writing of drafts, editing and proofreading, and revising and finalizing your documents.

Specialized courses cover such areas as:

  • Writing as part of a team
  • Writing effective e-mails
  • Using visuals to enhance writing
  • Writing the "perfect" resume

Each workshop is very interactive – using video clips, group discussion, and exercises as well as providing examples of well-written business documents, easy-to-use tip sheets, and individualized coaching.
