| Team Recognition and Rewards |

"What Gets Rewarded, Gets Done." People respond to what gets measured and/or rewarded – especially when they are overloaded or in times of confusion. If leaders want team commitment, then there need to be forms of team recognition and rewards. Like the metrics, this is much easier when there is clarity around what the team produces and what quality looks like for that product. Why is this so important? It's important because the team (collectively and individually) needs renewal/energy for the next challenge. Balancing team and individual recognition: This area gets a little challenging. Leadership wants the focus to be on the team, but also desires to acknowledge individual contributions. For a race car pit crew, one of the team's products is very clear – a safe, successful, and quick (12 seconds or so) pit stop. For something larger like winning the race, there should be recognition and rewards (a celebration, public acclaim, financial, etc.) for outstanding team performance. Heroic or superb individual contributions should also be recognized. There is no pat formula here; we can help you tailor and approach to your unique situation. We have sample recognition and reward strategies for a variety of team situations. Contact us by phone: (703) 897-0724 or by email. |
